Share your bread
Isn't it to share your bread with the hungry, and that you bring the poor who are cast out to your house?
The line after yesterday's. The fast that pleases God ends in a shared loaf. That is Isaiah's whole point: what you did not eat is not yours to keep. It belongs to someone who is hungry without having chosen to be. This is what keeps fasting from curdling into pride or vanity or a diet. The emptiness in you is meant to become fullness in someone else. Yesterday you did not eat two meals. Today, find out who needs them.
Today's practice
Calculate what yesterday's missed meals would have cost. Give that amount, or that much time, to someone who cannot repay you. Do it today.
