My yoke is easy
Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Two weeks of emptying ends with the word "rest." A yoke is still a yoke, and there is work in this way, an hour kept before dawn, meals not eaten. But it is easy, he says, and the burden is light, because it is the burden of being what you are rather than defending what you are not. If the fast has felt heavy this week, look for the place you have been carrying it with a sad face. Set that down. Then go to the table.
Today's practice
Rest, actually rest: no productivity, no self-improvement. Sleep in. Sit in the sun. Let the yoke be easy for one day.
The feast
A feast day. Eat what you love, generously, with others. Wine if you like it. The fast resumes after supper.
Kept on this device only.
By the calendar, today is Day ?.
